Help ID'ing a couple fish for me
« on: December 12, 2012, 07:54:32 PM »
Could use a little help on ID of these two fish. LFS didn't really know.  First one I am thinking maybe a Red Zebra? (size is about 5"). And the 2nd one I'm just guessing here but maybe some sort of Sunshine? (that one is about 6").

The red zebra looks to had an oddly pointed anal fin. IME they've always been rounded, but it looks pointed.

The second is part yellow lab .... the black portions are missing though and the face is rather round instead of pointed.  ???

Maybe yellow lab and zebra mix perhaps?

That's what the one looks like to me. Like I said in a earlier post they will cross its all up to the fish if they do cross

Did they come from one of those mixed African tanks?  If so they are most likely Mbuna hybrids & you'll only know which species displays the dominate genes.

Not really from a mixed African labeled tank. The shop I got them from is mainly a saltwater fish shop but every once in awhile they will get a few cichlids in, I'm guessing maybe customers that trade them in for something or something like that is my guess. When I asked what they were the worker replied "umm...an orange cichlid and a yellow cichlid".... ??? lol.

Whatever they are so far they are pretty peaceful and are getting along well with the the smaller yellow labs. I also already caught the two new ones doing a bit of a mating circle/vibrating last night.
