Remember Patti Smith???
« on: December 16, 2012, 09:53:03 AM »
I'm probably showing my age but, how many of you remember Patti Smith? Her most well known song is probably "Because the Night (Belongs to Lovers)".
She is in town tonight for a concert and was just on the morning news. I always thought she had "a face for radio" but DAMN, now she REALLY is one ugly guy!!!   8) 8) 8)

I remember you young whippersnapper when the place to go was Bookies on 6 and Woodward on the weekends to see such groups as:
The Romantics
Iggy Pop and the Stoogies
Teenage muntants
Nikki Corvette and the Convertables
Or the Big Holloween Show at the Mosonic in Detroit to see:
The Ramones
The Runaways (still have a crush)
and many others
So many concerts, venues (Roostertail, Latin Quarter, Grande Ballroom) that the kids of today will never experiance. Now let me sit in my rocker and nap....er reflect

The venues and concerts are still out there my friend, only the names have changed! Some of us old timers still hit 'em too. Speaking for my self it's what keeps me young! ;) ;)

And Tony can you name Patti's "famous" Detroit area hubby?

Ahh, I don't recall Chuck...I do know her son is a musician and lives/performs in the Detroit area.

Talk about you young 'uns ....  there was a time when the Grande Ballroom on Woodward Ave, downtown Detroit was where all the concerts were.

Black Sabbath
J Geils
Mott the Hoople
Bad Company
and many more

Iggy & the Stooges were notorious for not showing up.
