Breeding set up question
« on: December 11, 2012, 08:19:33 PM »
When attempting to get a paid breeding, which part of the tank footprint matters more- tank length or front to back width? In other words would a wider 40 gallon tank be better than a longer 55 gallon tank? Or would it even matter?

My experience is a longer tank is better for breeding and a wider tank is better for grow out. But everyone has a different opinion of it. I have some fish that I used a 55 for and others a 30 breeder. A lot of it has to do with the kind of fish also. So what it comes down to really is what you prefer.

It all depends on the species that are being bred.
Generally speaking I prefer the wider breeder tanks,  as you will have a greater surface area.
