The tank:
540 gallon, 8' x 3' x 3' glass aquarium. It is made of 3/4" glass all the way around. The tank is currently disassembled waiting to be cleaned up and put back together. The only thing this tank will need is a few pieces of glass for euro bracing the top and possibly replacing one 3x3 end panel (crack on corner). The bottom euro bracing is still intact. Also heavy duty metal stand.
I picked this up in August, 2011 and it has been in my garage since. I got it in trade from a guy in Indy (goes by "Pharoah"). The was posted for sale on MFK by the previous owner and there are several threads on it there when it was originally offered for sale.
This thing is heavy - the 3/4" glass weighs 9.73 lbs per square foot so the 8'x3' panels are 24 ft2 and weigh approximately 233 lbs each. The shell of the tank is a total of 90 ft2 and weighs 875 lbs not including the bracing glass, the overflow boxes, or the heavy duty metal stand.
For reference - a similar tank from Glass Cages is listed on their web site for $3888 for just the tank. They also offer glass panels and for 3/4" glass the for $28/ft2. For the 90 ft2 shell of the tank it would cost $2520 just for the plate glass not including bracing or overflows.
