The famous no call no show for online selling/ & trading
« on: December 26, 2016, 02:04:41 PM »
Just thougt I'd post about a gripe that I have with Craigslist and some online selling forums. The no call no show. The one where so and so tells you that tomorrow they will come for the item. Tomorrow is a Saturday. You wait until 11 am and then send them a text. Maybe you needed the money or the space. You definitely need the time that you are wasting trying to find out if they are coming. On Sunday they get back in touch about that they had a family emergency and they can come later that week and they are sorry. So Ok you don't know but no use speculating. Thursday rolls around and the same dance. No answering of texts or calls. No decency for the fact that maybe you might have better things to do.
Possibly they even tell you how busy they are at their job. Working endless hours. Still they make an appointment with you that do not keep.
I just find this to be very rude. Is the person simply not mature enough to send a text message? I have worked 16 hour days standing in the road doing traffic control in a construction zone. I know damn well that at the end of the day I can text somebody and say that I am exhausted and that I just cannot get free anytime soon.
It is a turn off for selling online period with this type of behavior.
Not sure why it is so difficult for some.
Anyway my $.02 on some crappy selling experiences. Post yours if you want. 😃

One thing to do is only give a general location at first.  Give out your address a couple of hours before they arrive only after the buyer requests it on the day on the sale.   No second chances if they don't make any effort before hand to communicate with you that they will be more than 30 minutes late or not show up.  At first if you only communicate by email it will weed out some of the give me a deep discount deal people.

Craigslist the worst of all online selling sites for no shows. I have had a few good buyers from CL, but normally you have to wade through about 8 bad ones to finally get a good one.

I usually won't hold an item for someone I don't know.  I leave the item up for sale until the person is on their way.  I actually had someone text me today about something I have on Craigslist.  That person left me hanging on some rock, and I'm not even going to bother to respond.

Craigslist individuals can be incredibly difficult to deal with, but I have dealt with many that were fine.  Really you are just rolling the dice.
I find people on this board much more friendly and reliable:)

I have a theory on Craigslist users.  50% text you to ask "is it still forsale"! I hate this with a passion.  20% with ask stupid questions or try to talk you down without seeing it in person. I hate this too!  10% will come and look at it and pass it up.  The remain 20% will purchase the item.   If you text people and they have not deleted the ad, I think they should be removed from Craigslist for 90 days or dragged behind an old truck by their crotch.  Just my educated opinion as I use Craigslist for my business almost everyday.  Either way i have meet some really entertaining people thanks Craigslist! lol

Craigslist Sucks!!!  But what choice is there?? No one removes their ad after it's sold....I think public flogging is required for this offence.

I am the same way. Once I get stood up I won't respond to them anymore for different items.

Well, I've been trying to get items for the big job of remodeling my Mothers kitchen and Craigslist still sucks....out of twenty five people...ten had sold item, forgot to take post down....five left post up till it expired. Five never replied back. Ten still had item, after first email or text Five never answered back to meet. The last Five set up a day to meet. Three of them disappeared day of meet up....tried to follow-up with them with no further reply from them. Two met up to complete transaction. No counting one that after driving an hour with Mom...to have the guy say " I'm going to keep a couple" I was buying kitchen cabinets..."but the price is still the same". I COULD HAVE KILLED...   I'm still hanging in but still just in the last two weeks...Three people have item...one never answered back to meet. One was meeting at his Father-in-laws-house...gave me address and time to meet on last Saturday the 18th. Day of meet I called him, to make sure we were still meeting...I get, "we're headed to Detroit to look at new cabinets, will call you when we're back.  No call back and no answer either. Last one was meet on Sunday at about 3:00 and will call to verify time and place on Sunday.  Never called and never answered text or voice mail from me.  From my experience on Craigslist anyone from Holly, Grand Blanc, Birch Run and Downriver are Flakes. And my experience on Letgo...what a joke..no one answers at all, out of TEN people....Wish I could buy retail...   Oh, forgot to add...as for my selling my fish on Craigslist experience...I've had guys show up at my house and look all the fish over and say "When I get some money...I'll buy some...Can you put these and those aside till I get some money?"   One guy was "I know I have something you want for trade..."I only barter, this is Flint after all"    AGHHHH!!!!!!
