Albino Variants Consumer Demand
« on: January 26, 2017, 12:08:23 PM »
Good afternoon everyone,

Just curious of people's opinions on albinos, I know in other pet hobbies albinos are highly sought after (i.e. reptiles) however for the fish hobby I find it can be hit or miss. I have been wanting neolamprologus brichardi for a little while and recently the LFS by me received albinos in from their supplier (actual variant is unknown). They are a sweet looking fish however I am just worried that I might be the only one that likes the look of them, and if they begin to breed what do I do with 100 fry? Also I have heard albinos produce smaller batches of viable fry (which might always be bad) - not sure if there is any truth to this. All comments welcome - thanks!

I'm not sure about the demand for albino fish but I too like the look of the Albino Neolamprologus brichardi.  With the right tank mates and setting, they could really brighten up a tank.  I can imagine them hovering over a dark rock or substrate.  Quite the show!

Rule #1 - Keep fish that you like regardless of consumer demand
