Blue Acara Not Eating Due to Fear (Now Eating)
« on: August 16, 2015, 09:23:23 PM »
Some of may see this post on another forum, but i am cross posting to try and get an answer quickly.

I have been treating my tanks for worms after my Green Terror stopped eating 4 weeks ago. I am in three weeks of treatment and i have noticed my Blue Acara stopped eating as well. Now i have put both in a hospital tank to treat both with METRO as they both have been not eating much and seeing both eating and spitting their food out. After three days of being in the hospital tank i have noticed the Green Terror has been getting really aggressive towards the Blue Acara. He pushes the Acara around by bumping and shoving. No real biting. Is it possible that the Acara isn't eating due to fear and moving him into the hospital tank isn't needed. Should i put him back in to the main tank he is spending alot of time near the top corner swimming in fear.

Any help would be appreciated

Alex

Metro is extremely bitter, are  you mixing the dosed food with garlic to cover up the medicine taste? They wont eat it otherwise.

well i am not mixing it with thier food as they aren't even eating it.

the GT started showing hair like white poops and he won't even go near blood worms. The acara will go after them but then will spit them out after chewing a bit. What i am more worried about is that the GT seems to be bullying the acara big time now. I have the lights off to help curb some of the aggreession. I just want to know if the acara's not eating is parasite related or do i have a fish not wanting to eat because of being bullied.

The Blue Acara has been moved back to the main tank and is now eating normally.

After a day of him eating some blood worms and a huge mouth to mouth battle for at least 40 minutes with the GT in the hospital tank I decided to pull him and move him. He is now swimming back in the main tank, eating peas, pellets, and blood worms.
