Inherited a mixed tank... Newbie questions
« on: August 21, 2015, 09:37:55 AM »
Hello all.  My name is Evan.

I inherited a tank from one of my patient's that passed and I'm concerned about the fish that are stocked in it.  The tank is a 60 gallon.  I cleaned it and set it up in my office.  It is a 60 gallon with a pool filter sand substrate, Texas holey rock aquascape, and I have two Penguin 350's.

The tank is stocked with a whitish-blue African with two white spots on it's anal fin, a all yellow African with two yellow spots on it's anal fin, a cuckoo catfish, standard pleco, and two blood red parrots.  The parrots have been with the tank for a couple months before I took possession, but I'm concerned about their timidness.  They hide behind the holey rock 24/7 and don't even come out to feed.

I'm thinking about donating them and possibly the pleco to a local LFS, but I just wanted to get another opinion.  I would like to get some colorful Africans, but I'm worried about the current Africans I have in their now.  I don't know their sex and I don't want to add fish that will possibly bully them to the point of death.

Thanks for reading.

Pictures of the Africans?  We can ID them for you, if they aren't hybrids.

I'd be concerned with the size parrots can get and the aggression with them vs the other Africans you have, in the future.

Thank you.  I have pictures on my phone so I will upload them tonight when I am on my home computer.  Identification of the African's would definitely be helpful, though I'm worried they are just hybrids.

Here is the best pictures I could get of the Africans.  The yellow one was feeling shy.  I also included a picture of the tank if there is anything I need to change or other constructive criticism.

Looking like a couple of the zebras.  Cobalt/pearl & Red ,  Which would be Metriaclima callianos & estherae
