Rocks directly on bottom of acrylic tanks?

Does anyone know is there is good reason to not put rocks directly on the bottom of an acrylic tank?

I know for glass, it's a good idea to put lighting diffuser normally. I'm debating what to do with an acrylic tank. In the instances where sand gets pushed away, the diffuser is unsightly IMO. I was thinking instead of using some sheets of very thin, clear acrylic that I tried to use for tank tops once upon a time (they bowed over time), then thought that maybe it didn't make any sense since the bottom is acrylic already.

No you don't have to worry. We would just put the rock down and then sand for some of the acrylic tanks I have done. Same with glass too though we would have 1/2" bottoms put in too though... But to be honest you have nothing to worry about other than the bottom maybe scratching and if you plan to use sand that will happen either way.

I've never used anything between the bottom panel and the rocks....acrylic or glass. My 190g glass tank had large field stones in it that probably totaled 500 pounds.

My acrylic tank has the rocks directly on the bottom & has been fine for over a year... even with my big La Cieba Parachromis.  (Who pushes softball sized rocks around like It's a pebble )

Shoot, I've straight up dropped rocks on the bottom of both glass and Acrylic tanks. lol

 Accidentally of course.

 And with Glass tank bottoms being tempered... This is why...
