Planted tank
« on: February 21, 2012, 11:19:23 PM »
So I am thinking about converting my 55g into my first planted tank and then eventually a discus tank. Any and all suggestions and or websites to visit is welcome. I am lost on where to even start...Do I use potting clay? I think someone once told me that works good..then put gravel over that?
Nothing but a few empty tanks.

Also, as a side note: If you have well water and use a softener you might have some trouble with many plants. My softener salts aren't very "plant friendly" but certain hardy plants do okay. There is always the option of an R/O unit.
