Should I be concerned and what should I do
« on: September 17, 2014, 07:58:23 PM »
Any concern or suggestions.  I stood up the 120g tank around Labor Day.  I transferred most of the water from the old 75g into the 120g.  New gravel and new Fluval FX6 filter.  The light sits above the tops about 3"- 4" and inside the canopy.  Does the water seem hazy?  Just doesn't seem as clear as the 75g tank was.
Thanks
Mike

New substrate - if it wasn't 100% clean, some of it could be dust from the substrate.

I'd suspect no matter, whether it's a disrupted nitrogen cycle or particulate, it'll clear up in time. I'd only worry if the fish were gasping for air and/or had extremely red gills (all a result of high ammonia levels impacting gill function).

Thanks Ron.  Fish seem fine so I believe the balance is OK.  I did wash the substrate the best I could.  I plan on a water change in a couple of weeks so we'll watch for some improvement.  Much appreciate the quick response
Thanks
Mike

New substrate or bacteria bloom.

What are your parameters showing?  Keep an eye on things.

You would've been better off with old filter pads/substrate  & new water.

If it's near a window getting sunlight it could also be an algae bloom.
