So out of curiosity would the concept be to keep the sump I have but cut the end of it off and set it inside another to increase the volume of water it holds? seems like that would be the easiest. Providing it would fit like that. I havn't measured anything. Seems like that would keep me from having to silicone in partitions and what not so basically the bioball section would be the only remaining aspect of the old sump and that would just set in the new tank.

the plumbing Idea isnt a bad either really....I how hard is it to cut glass/acrylic and plumb them together...and any idea of cost?

Yeah. I love this thing. It looks pretty awesome. Everyone that has seen it is in awe of it so far. I wish I would have gotten some Tropheus years ago.

Yeah, me too....someday was supposed to be sooner than later....but  ::)

Keep us updated Nick...the tank looks fantastic!!! Any plans for tank mates for them?
Cool video too. FWI, they do seem to be swimming unnaturally for Tropheus though...is it just the heavy current?

Yeah, Very strong current. I was thinking about toning it back a bit. What do you guys think? Ive never had this much water flow or these type of fish so I really have no idea. My gut tells me its ok but maybe should still be a little less current.

Well, to me their swimming just doesn't look right due to the current. It may also impede their breeding behavior/success...could blow the eggs away and the other fish might gobble them up.

That was my also a thought I had and since I'm now getting confirmation on my paranoia...I lowered the current last night to where they can actually swim and hang out in front of the current without having to swim in an almost vertical position. Still should be around 1300-1400 gph.
The fish are hanging out now in the center of the tank a bit more. They were off to the each side because the current was so strong in the center. I think this might actually help a bit of the aggression. I had a big dominant male at each end terrorizing the fish forced in their area by the strong current.

Part of the enjoyment is tinkering with factors to keep your fish happy, healthy, and hopefully breeding. Keep us updated Nick...great job so far.

Thanks! I am really loving them. Looking at some new lighting right now. I am leaning toward some type of led because of how hot everything gets under my canopy.
I found some by Current. True Lumen Pro. They come in 8000k 10000k 12000k/with Actinic mixed in and a all Actinic. Pretty expensive but I think They will make the fishes colors pop! I would probably get 2 36" 10000k...or maybe 8000k. I can't decide but as long as I don't go higher than 10000k or add blue I would be ok with making the Yellow look good.
