What is this?
« on: February 05, 2014, 12:58:25 AM »
I just looked in my 10g pleco tank a few mins ago which houses six super red juvie plecos from 3/4" to 1.5" and there are also four cory catfish in that tank, and I noticed this on the leaves of one of the fake plants in the tank. It looks like some sort of eggs, I know it can't be from the plecos can it because they are too young to breed yet. I've never seen cory catfish eggs, is it perhaps from them??

I'd say Cory eggs, but I haven't had any breed for me so I'm not 100%

I think you are correct Blair, I was just doing some googling and from a few things I found it looks just like the pictures of cory catfish eggs. I've never breed them so I'm gonna try to see if I can hatch them. Based on one article I just read I did what it said and picked up the fake plant and moved it to a breeder net while not removing it from underwater. Then put an airstone under the net to get some water flow under it.

Well see if they hatch or not. No idea what I'll do with a bunch of albino cories but what the heck why not see what happens. If all these fish keep spawning they way they have been the past month or two I think I'm gonna have to go pick up a few more tanks for fry/grow outs soon :o

Perhaps next time remove the eggs and use methylene blue with them to avoid fungus issues?
