Bringing fish back from Miami?

He guys Im on vacation and we stopped in miami for a day and will be stopping in Miami the day before we leave.  There is a ton of fish stores around here and also a few large farms with in 15 minutes.  My question is has any one ever checked fish on a plan?  Also if anyone has been to Miami if theres anything worth while around here fish wise please let me know.

Interesting.   Never thought about checking them.  Dont see why not when you can with dogs and cats.

Obviously not carry on because of the liquid volume.

Ted Judy has posted on facebook and other places regarding bring fish on as a carry on.  According to the links he posted a year or so ago it was okay per TSA rules to bring live fish as a carry on, however it was so uncommon that most TSA agents didn't know the rules themselves.  If you want to carry on be prepared with printed copies of TSA's own rules.

Checking should be a problem at all.  Make sure the styro is packed like it was being shipped with heat packs and labeled live tropical fish.

I dont see how you could carry them on the plane.  You cant even bring a water bottle on board.  But... maybe if there is a little live creature in there... it isnt a "treat"

I would definitely have paperwork ready stating that it is ok.

Not sure of flight number I just thought of this plan.  Ill have to look into carrying on as I just figured you could not.  Not even sure if there is anything down here worth picking up.  If anyone finds something down here let me know.

Well I would have been bringing them back tueday early morning, doesnt matter I checked with delta, it would be easier to buy and ship them.  Which I probably wont do also after some research the stuff that's close doesn't seem to interest me.

Don't bother trying to get any fish on the plane with you; carry-on or checked.  Simply not allowed now.  Much easier to stop at a FL pet store, by a few styros, and ship them directly to your house.  Use a tranquilizer and Oxygen and be home when they arrive.

Check out Delta Cargo.  My brother in-law just had some fish shipped up from FL for about 50 bucks.  It is Airport to Airport service.

You would want to look that one up in the TSA rulebook. And if it is allowed by chance, bring a copy of the relevant rule(s) with you.

And, you probably would want to arrive at the airport, six hours earlier than planned.

It would most likely be easier to ship them to yourself.

I used to live in FLA, and we did go to Miami last yr. Not a whole lot of fish experiences that I can think of. I would head down to marathon to the sea turtle farm/rescue. There was also a porpoise training facility down there somewhere.
You could check out Jungle Island? Also, non animal related, take a sight seeing cruise in Key Biscayne and tour around some of the islands and check out movie stars homes. Had a great time doing that. We also went to the giant natural made pool in Coral Gables. Dont know the name, but it was cool to see and swim in.
