What's old is new!
« on: April 14, 2013, 12:29:42 PM »
I got this peacock about 2yrs ago with a batch of other cichlids from someone shutting down their tank.
I always thought it was bi color hybrid of sort since it didn't color up much and had light yellow shoulders and dull grey body.

Yesterday I swapped a few fish into different tanks and in a matter of an hour the yellow became more pronounced, blue face,  and the grey dorsal and anal fins started to darken to black - see photos. Turns out he appears to be a Flavescent! Complete transformation; hardly a stunner, but can't believe this is the same plain jane peacock. I wish I had a 'before' photo.
I'll keep him this his new home and hope he colors up even more.

Very nice. I also have one in my all male peacock tank, they are a pretty fish when the colors are showing.
