Water Transfer Pump
« on: January 12, 2013, 02:44:21 PM »
I have a Wayne self priming transfer pump that I use to drain fish tanks.  I am currently re-scaping a 55 gallon tank and have removed the substrate.  There is currently fine grit, sand and debris remaining on the bottom of the tank.

Can the remaining stuff, water and fine sandy grit, on the bottom of the tank be pumped out or will it ruin the pump?

Generaly if its something like fine sand or gravel it will ruin your pump. The fine stuff gets down into the housing and wears out the housing and the magnet on the impellor.

Okay, kind of what I thought.  Thanks.
