Title: Turtleman's 125G All Male Hap/Peacock Tank
Post by: Super Turtleman on June 10, 2012, 03:29:04 AM
So, this is my all male tank. I recently decided to go with (mostly) haps & peacocks. I had mbuna before but they weren't working out. For now I just have this vid but I'll get some pics soon. Here's a (hopefully) complete list of what's in it.

Baenschi
Ngara Flametail (colored down)
Eureka Red Jake (he got beat up and is recovering)
Hai Reef Blue Neon
Fossorochromis Rostratus
Super Red Empress
German Red (colored down)
Red Fin Borleyi
O. Lithobates
Electric Blue Fryeri
Firefish
OB Peacock
Flameback
Kribensis
Yellow Kasanga Compressiceps
S. Eupterus
BN Pleco
Albino BN Pleco

I'd like to add:
Lemon Jake
Phenochilus Tanzania
Placidochromis Electra
Red Top Lwanda
Venustus (maybe)

Noticed my Borleyi has an injured eye. I hope he'll be ok.   :(

When I had my Africans it was a chase/attack fest in the tank.  My beautiful Borleyi injured his eye on the holey rock.  I was sick about it but it healed very quickly...within a matter of a week or so.  The same thing happened to one of my other Haps and the healing process went quickly.

HTH.

Very Nice Emil,

I really love that Borley. That is the nicest one I have seen. That is such a crisp white on his fins.

Very nice males in there.  I also love the borleyi.  Mine isn't as red and is very deep bodied shaped more like a pan fish.  Every thing looked great except the Rostratus and he just needs time to age and get his color.  I am sure he'll be awesome as well!!

Oh yeah,  I have a few phenochilus males that are young yet that I will be thinning out.  Rob gets 1st dibs but I should another 1 or 2 that will have enough color by the next auction to know they are definately males if you are still looking this fall.  Also have a young F1 Lawanda male that is awesome I may consider selling.  Though he's a looker so far and I may also keep him for my show.  I do have a wild trio with an awesome male that have bred yet.  Probably something to do with the fact they are in a 90 with about 20 demasoni and a few other fish.

The flametail used t be colored up awesome. I'm going to put him in a 29G by himself to see if he comes back around. Here's a pic of him colored up.

I have gotten several Flame tail Juvy's in the past and I have never gotten them to color up very well or stay colored up. I may have to see if I can find an adult already colored. I would love one that looks as nice as yours look Emil.

He's currently colored down...but I have him in a 29G and he's coloring back up. Looks like he'll be a challenge to keep colored up...but I'm up for it.

Ive decided to do a male 125G tank again. Lol. Wasnt planning on it but at the winter auction we brought home a few males and it took off from there. Lol. Here's a vid. Not sure if I'm gonna put a bunch more rock in or keep it minimal and see what happens. Thoughts?

Maybe a huge piece of driftwood in middle?

Great looking fish Emil, that Venustus is gonna be a beauty as it gets bigger too 8)

I would say to add a bit more rock but nothing too crazy since peacocks & haps like more open water than Mbuna. If it were me I'd probably add about double the amount of rock in there now and maybe a few small pieces of wood with some live anubias attached to them. All personal preference though.

I might add some more rocks...and maybe some plants. But no wood. Don't care for it.

New LED's look good Emil. And should use less power as well 8) I've been thinking about starting to switch over my tanks to LED myself and have been looking at some on ebay. You'll have to keep us updated on how you like them.

Very nice fish,  What fish is just below the German red? Also, how many individual led's does that light use?

I blieve that's the Regal Blue and the Light has 66 LEDs. 60 10K and 6 Actinic.
