Title: 2018 Fishroom Tour (6-2-18)
Post by: Regalblue on May 07, 2018, 02:39:10 PM
Meeting spot:
Busch's Food Market
3188 Walton Blvd
Rochester Hills, MI 48309
(SouthEast corner of their lot)
Date/Time: Sat. June 2nd @ 11:30am

Fishrooms featured include:
  Steve Clark
Steve has been in & out of the fish keeping hobby since he was a kid and his family had a 40g aquarium. Had about a 20 year hiatus from fish keeping but he got pretty serious into the hobby about six years ago after finding MCA. He has never been much into the breeding side of the hobby but instead is more drawn to the display aspect of aquariums. So he strives to make the tanks he has as realistic looking of underwater worlds as possible. Rather than keeping a large number of smaller breeding tanks, he maintains a smaller number of larger display tanks up to 240gs that feature hand made backgrounds and other diy features that help to give his aquascapes very natural looking settings.

Scott McKenzie:
Scott started keeping/breeding fish about 5yrs ago as a hobby to do with his kids.  They now maintain around 50tanks as a family.

Arin White:
Arin specializes in keeping wild caught Tropheus and Petros.  He has recently completed a fishroom remodel which included an automatic water change system.  He currently has 26 tanks totalling 1,300 gallons which house 11 species.

Peter & Kathy Durkin:
Whatever  is written here will not do justice to operation that the Durkin’s have. The Durkin’s have simply an amazing collection of breeding stock consisting of Tropheus to Plecos and everything in between.

George Campbell:
George has been in the hobby for a long time.  Him and his dad kept fish for many years when he was young. They had a 30 aquarium fish room, they kept and bred many types of fish, and belonged to two aquarium clubs in Toronto area. His first job was in an aquarium store, he was 14 at the time.
Currently he has a 50 aquarium fish room which he designed and built, from 2-1/2 gallons to 300 gallons. He keeps/breeds mostly Tanganyikan cichlids

In addition - Those of you who are looking into ways to setup water change systems...  you're in for a special treat,  as two of our stops feature automatic water change systems!

I need RSVPs for everyone planning on attending,  because MCA will be providing chicken & steaks for a BBQ at the last stop!

If you have folding chairs...bring them for the BBQ.  Due to the high amount of RSVPs,  Seating will be limited

Everyone attending is asked to please bring a dish to pass for the BBQ.  Please let me know what you will be bringing,  or just post it below. [/color]

My wife Sandi and I are planning to attend the Fish room tour this year.

One quick question. I'm highly allergic to cats and need to predrug to survive them. Do any of the fish rooms have cats?

Thanks.

Spoke with one of members last right...  He agreed to be added to our tour as a stop.   While I'm not reveling who it is,  just yet.  I assure you... his craftsmanship & unique fishroom is unparalleled!
