Title: Power backup during outage
Post by: Hari on May 03, 2018, 02:53:01 PM

Any thoughts on using such UPS power backups for multiple air pumps?

Hi Hari, I do not believe this would provide the backup you are looking for. I did not see an reference to amp draw capability or capacity of storage. I think these units are for power correction and very limited time battery backup as some of today's electronics are very sensitive to voltage fluctuations.

I've looked at some of these in the past.  It depends on how many watts your pumps are consuming.  I calculated that some of the larger units would only last me a few hours at most, so it was hard to justify a couple hundred dollars.  Plus most of them are designed to be interfaced with a PC to work properly which I did not want.  Let us know if you find something good that works for you though.  Always living in fear of a power outage when I'm not home to hook up the generator.
