That's a big tank...a lot of weight...you sure the stand doesn't need at least middle set of uprights, if not 2 extra sets? That's a big span to not sag...

I need to do cross members on the 2x12" on the bottom that will tie everything in. Going to be multiple tanks. Its open faced because there wil be tanks on the bottom as well. Took the design from someone who had two 250gallons and it held np. He used 2x8" only. I've upgraded the bottom to 2x12" on this stand.

Should be neat. I defiantly agree with Danny though about putting an upright brace or two in the center. If you do multiple tanks on top that fill the whole 10ft length then you will be over 700 gallons which will be close to 6,000 lbs. That's like putting a full size suburban on those top lengthwise 12" wood span. 12" wood boards are strong, but it does lose a lot of strength when it spans a distance without support.

Thanks guys ill keep that in mind. I think i've landed on building two acrylic 170 gallon for the top 58"x 34"x 18" the stand it self will be larger then any tank i put on it.

Two 170s side by side would look cool.  You could do very different environments in each. I remember a person who had a reef tank next to a planted tank.  Looked pretty nice!

If you are indeed putting 2 tanks side by side on the top of your stand make sure to leave a gap between them.  Even 2x12's will deflect in the middle with 2 plus tons of weight and you don't want the top rims pressing against one another.

The things we do for our hobbies.Reforced the 2x10 with two more 2x10 3" screws on one side and then 5.5" to tie all three together. 3 jacks that can hold 16000 pounds each. Going to add two more but I'm exhausted. 5 hrs in a crawl space will do that to you.
