Title: Filter Suggestions?
Post by: Hari on April 18, 2016, 10:51:16 AM
I am looking for a good filtration system for three 55 gallon tanks. I am thinking of placing all three tanks side by side.
Any advice/suggestions?Canister or HOB ?

Thanks,
Hari

I like aquaclear 110's the best, but I wouldn't pay retail for them. Seems like the price on these has doubled in the last few years. Sponge filters would be the cheapest route but I don't like using them in display tanks.

Id go with a bigger air pump & six HydroV's.

x2 if you're going with breeding set ups.
If you're going with show tanks I think power filters are the best.
Sure you can hide a sponge behind some decorations but they take up tank space and just don't keep the water as clean as power filters. The power filters are great for biological and mechanical filtration whereas a sponge is essentially a biological means of filtering the water.

I have to agree with Blair on the air pump and sponge filters.  Plus we have great prices in sponge filters in the group buy area for paid members.
