As is often the case, the internet is yielding VERY mixed results on what you can readily house with sevs. I've got two Central/South American setups- 1 w/ peaceful guys (Angels, Rams and an Elliotti) and one with more typical central americans (Dempseys, cons, salvinis, etc.).
I've got my eye on a really sharp Sev, but am not sure if he'd mesh in either set up. Most of what I'm finding says they're mainly peaceable for a larger cichlid and that makes me think he'd get bullied in my main tank, but I'm also finding stuff that says they can have a big attitude, making me think he'd be too rough for the angels and rams. Anybody have experience with any of these sorts of mixes?

One could work in the Central tank depending on tank size.
Severums are more suitable for a more peaceful tank... Like a Geo setup

"Severums are more suitable for a more peaceful tank"
Until they spawn, then watchout

Thanks for the input.... the Sev i was looking at sold, so for now it's a non-issue, but I'll definitely keep your suggestions in mind for down the line.

I had a couple of young 3" severums and they were pretty mean. Went against most articles I've read so I'm wondering if the previous owner raised them in a more aggressive tank.

I had a a few sevs and they are a more peaceful fish but always stand guard once they get bigger.
