Title: Vieja Hartwegi
Post by: thebbqguy on February 24, 2016, 06:59:00 PM
Anybody care to share their impressions of the vieja hartwegi?

I see some online that have more color than others. Do the red ones tend to come from a certain area?

They're a really cool fish to keep.  I've had them a few times.
Diet & Dominance play a BIG role in their colors.

Anyone ever kept a Vieja tank?? I currently have a Synspila and Bifasciatas...interested in adding more to the collection. Thinking a 120-150 with a good mix of the species. Thoughts?

I have kept a Vieja community tank, yes.  My suggestions would be to stay away from the more aggressive species, like fenestratus & Argentina, since you already have the laid back species.

So...Regani, Hartwegi, Heterospilus should be fine.

How about Breidohri, Guttulatus, and Coatzocoalcos?? Too aggressive? Would like a Zonatus but probably out of the picture here.

Thanks!

From what I've experienced,  yes.

I'm not sure about those others.  I haven't kept breidorhi & only have kept guttalatum, zonatus & coatzo by themselves.
