Title: BAP Suggestions
Post by: Michael Zebrowski on February 12, 2016, 08:57:33 PM
I noticed that the BAP Points listing has discus both as 20 point fish and 25 point fish. It would seem that all discus species should be ranked as 25 point fish.

It might be worth awarding an extra 5 points for a first-time breeding of species that are not currently on the BAP list.  The extra points might incentivize more aquarists to both breed new species and participate in the BAP.  There could be a award for the most first-time breeding added to the year-end awards.

I could be wrong, but I believe the reason for the differentiation in points is because of the difficulty in spawning heckelli discus.  I'll research this and post my findings.

Thanks.  If there's a valid reason then I understand the differential.

Heckels are tougher to breed.
