Title: Flake food in the hot sun all day

If a bag of flake food sat in the directnsun all day in 85 degrees would it mess it up for the health of the fish?

If you leave flake food in the light, it will accelerate the loss of nutritional value of the flakes.  The best place to store them is somewhere cool and dark.  If you have a large amount, you can increase their shelf life by keeping them in the freezer.

Due to a couple emails about my answer. As an answer for my lame answer My answer was based on the assumption that it was left out in the sun accidently for a day.  Food should be kept as Marty stated...also kept in air tight container. Especially, if you buy in bulk. Only keep a small amount out for daily use...to keep as fresh as possible. I keep containers for daily use in the fridge door and store food in a crisper. All other extra food is kept in the freezer. I know someone who buys in bulk and uses a vacuum bag sealer to store food in bags in the freezer.

If your fish are that picky, they would not like my food.  It sits on top of my tank for the past year. Good and fresh!
