Title: Unkown Catfish - Synodontis
Post by: Crozby on April 10, 2012, 10:52:04 AM
Anybody know what type of catfish this is? It looks to me most like a Multi but the yellowish color and small black dots on his face are a little different than the ones I have seen. I have 4 of them about 3-4 inches in legth, and they are pretty aggressive towards each other. Well anyway thanks if you have same or similiar looking catfish.(http://i.imgur.com/TrQon.jpg)

Looks like S. decorus to me, but I wouldn't wager a bet on it without being able to see the dorsal and caudal fins better.

Yea, I was surfing pictures of Decorus and the catfish I have is a hybrid Decorus called Valentine-Syno. I cant find any info on breeding and would like to know if anyone on this forum knows how they breed. I know its a hybrid and they are not really wanted in the hobby, but they look cool so it would be nice to try.

From THE resource on catfish ...

Since they list breeding as unreported, I'd take it as "not possible" in the typical home aquarium. I'd suspect it's a product of giant vats/ponds and possible hormone use.
