So I decided to finally get around to cleaning out a fluval canister filter that stopped running about 6-8 months ago. I had it hooked up to my QT tank just to keep the bio media going but it slowed to a trickle and then just stopped so I unplugged it.
Now thatI have a biger show tank again I would like to try to use it for extra bio filter and the fact that I have an inline filter hooked to it that's pretty slick.
So I popped it open and splashed rotten egg sented water all over the front of me. Went through it all and rinsed it all out with hot tap water. Now I got it all out side drying in the sun.
Do you think it's safe to hook it up to my tank now or should I sanitize everything somehow?
Surprisingly, It really didn't seem too dirty on the inside besides the putrid smell. I changed my shirt and the first thing my wife said when I picked her up is if I stepped in dog poop. Lol, I guess I was used to the smell by then.

I'd just rinse it really well.
