Title: WTB Staffordshire Terrior pupy (not Am.Staff)
Post by: danotaylor on October 07, 2015, 05:19:49 PM
G'day MCA Crew,

As the title says, we're looking for a staffy puppy for our family. We just discovered that our kids are allergic to our cat, the pet they chose when we moved to the US from Australia 2 yrs ago. So we are selling her and getting a dog instead. According to their allergy test results dogs are ok.

So we are looking for a Staffordshire Terrier. We don't want an American Staffordshire (pit bull) as my sister in law would never come to visit us ever again. Long story, it is what it is...

Does anyone on here breed, or know of a breeder of Staffy's? Pedigree is not needed (can't afford it anyway). Love to get a blue staffy, but again not essential. Please let me know anything you know.

Thanks crew,

Danny

I am going to be very blunt so excuse my frankness. Your sister-in-law is obviously uneducated on the bully breeds so she probably would not notice the difference between the two breeds.  Have you looked into adopting a shelter pup?

Shelters are over run with these bully dogs. It's really sad. I see ads on my "offerup" app all the time too. Nobody wants to spay and neuter their animals it seems :'(

Whatever you do please spay and neuter so you don't add to the problem.

Hello Dano,

Try the Lucas County Pit Crew.  We got our awesome American Staffordshire terrier from them.  She was potty trained, crate trained, and socialized when we got her at 6 months old.

Kind Regards,
Pete

He is not looking for an American Staffordshire Terrier. He is looking for a Staffordshire Terrier, but they are both GREAT dogs!  Owens  has some nice Staffys in MI.

Also, an American Staffordshire Terrier is not the same thing as a American Pit Bull Terrier. Thoughout the years all 3 have been bred as unique lines.  ASBT have been bred mostly for show.

Are you looking for a Staffordshire bull terrier? A staffordshire and American Staffordshire are the same. The staffy bull is compact. I work at a vet hospital and can get you the names of 2 breeders if that's what you are looking for.

According to my neighbor "Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier and the American Pit Bull Terrier share the same ancestors (bulldogs). They all are Pit Bull types...originally dogs solely bred for fighting." "They have a higher rate of Mastocytoma (tumors), HC (cataracts) and L2HGA (dementia)."

Now, if you were looking for a Pit Bull...I'd say come to Flint, you can't throw a stick without hitting one or go 5 mins without seeing one running loose.....such the life in a "Third World City" according to the news lately and topping the list of most dangerous cities once again. P.S. don't drink the water.

Good Luck, I hope you find the one you want.
