As many of you probably remember back in January after the 265g office tank leaked for the last time I decided to downsize my tanks big time. Still have my 75g, two 20g's, and pond, but that's been it for the past 6 months. Now the past week or so I started doing a bit of upgrades on the 75g and one of the 20g's. Kind'a getting the itch again it seems ;D
Soooooo as I was sitting in the office on the laptop I looked over and stared starting at the recessed opening where I had some bonsai trees sitting during the winter and I started thinking.....Man that would be a neat place for an in-wall 90g tank! And behind the wall is the utility room with sink.
Could be a new project in my future soon this fall :o

IF I do it... I have to try to keep tank size within reason. Even though the utility room is behind that wall I do store a lot of things like tools, mountain bike, holiday decorations, my 20g quarantine tank and other things in addition to the washer/dryer/furnace/wash tub/overwinter bonsai trees etc in there. So with the room being about 10x10 I have to make sure I don't take up too much space with a really deep tank.
I did do a little cleaning in there this evening so I can actually get some accurate measuring done so I can see what I'm working with. Just in case I decide to do something ;)

Sometimes the new itch is good Steve! My only advise would be to start with a NEW tank. Re-sealing isn't worth the hassle.

Why not a 200. 48 x 36 x 27
because the 120 would only be 6" deeper than the 90. ;)

this hobby never leaves you...Mike Neelon had fish until the day he died.he was a member of the Cleveland Aquarium Society since around 1935 until his passing in 2009...it is good for the soul....
so think about how you are going to fit the tank you want in that space and then think about how you are going to fill it with awesome fishes...

After doing some measuring I think a 75g in wall will fit better than forcing a 90g into the wall and having to deal with some clearance issues in the utility room. I was talking to Blair last week and he told me about Preuss Pets selling brand new 75G's for $100+tax so I was planning on getting one brand new from them, till I map-quested it and see that they are almost 2hrs from me :o So gonna keep watching and see if anyone puts up a good shape used 75g anytime soon most likely.

Well I did it, just got home with this. Found a super nice condition 75g that's only a couple years old with stand and glass lids for a really good price. Stay tuned for a new DIY thread soon 8) Thinking in wall with 3D background Discus tank most likely.
