A newbie is also a greenhorn, wet-behind-the-ears, new, Johnny-come-lately, etc.  :o

If you have had less than a dozen fish die, you are most definitely a newbie.

I think they may be referring to the forum label of "Newbie" which I believe is determined by the number of posts.

Newbie is a default classification assigned by the forum software to new users with few posts.
