Title: For for South Americans

i have a nice combination of silver dollars, Severums, Blue Araras and they are doing great. However I am pretty new South Americans I've mostly been an African guy.. Diet? Mostly green types of food? Any protein? I've heard maybe some spinach once in a while? Thanks for any help!

silver dollars are omnivorous like many african cichlids but the severums & acaras are largely carnivorous...a diet of mixed flakes & NLS pellets or an equivilant would be a good start...I used to feed my SA cichlids live earthworms as an occasional snack too  :)

Personally I'd pick a well rounded omnivorous food & stay away from land based protein,  unless conditioning to spawn.
 My silver dollars get fed Southern Delight PowerFeed.  They are housed with Amphilophus Red Isletas.

I am feeding a combination of green flakes(60%) nls sinking pellet(30%) 10% mixed flakes.

I'd suggest cutting out the flakes & switching to a veggie pellet then.
 Flakes are for fry & goldfish.  They loose too much nutrition once wet.
