I hope everyone had a nice 4th....it was Hell here. The neighborhood broke out into one explosion after another that shook the house. This freaked my Mother out(that damn Alzheimer's). She thought we were at War and they were bombing the factories nearby. To no avail or reasoning, the only way to calm her down was to carry her down the stairs to the basement, where we might be safe(she was mad that somehow I hadn't finished building a bunker). I also had to sit there with a loaded gun...just in case, they started going house to house after they finished bombing or protect ourselves from looters. I wish I had a bunker to put her in for my sanity(next project) thank God it only lasted about 5 hours. I hope next year will be calmer....lol

I think I would've taken her outside and shown her the fireworks.

This reminds me of a news story I heard recently about handling situations like this. From what I remember it can actually be very therapeutic (at least emotionally) for the person with Alzheimer's/dementia if you play along with them, because they're given a sense of mutual understanding.
In case you're interested, it's Act 2:

I thought of that Marty, but you really couldn't see anything from our yard...just hear and feel the percussions.
