Title: BN Pleco with bloat?
Post by: LanaK on June 25, 2015, 08:41:32 AM
So I went down to check on my fish this morning and my male blue eyed bn pleco was super bloated.  Like Thanksgiving day parade bloated.  I am sure this is not good for him, but I am not sure what I could do to help.  Anyone have experience with this or ideas on what is wrong?

In all the years I have kept Bn Plecos I have had 3 Bn Plecos do this to me and idk why but maybe it's the food?

Put him in a QT tank and quick. (You probably already knew that.) I'm having bloat problems myself and I'm about to start a thread. We might benefit from reading each other's responses. Hope he gets better! My Rusty got the bloat and died 2 days later.

I've been feeding mostly fresh veggies lately since it is summer - blanched spinach and squash.  Going to try QT and see if some parasite meds will help - also see if it might just be constipation.

i ebpnded up quake teeming him with some parasite mess and no food, I was afraid it was an intestinal blockage. He ended up being fine, but did pass a few months later, he was also pretty old.
