Our local Fish Nazi (GrizzlysDad) has decided to allow me some WC Discus - Tefe Green. The wholesaler tried the shipping method of - lets drug em up and see if they survive the shipping without water method. So they came in pretty rough. Tony can share his adventure getting them from the airport to home. I'm optimistic that they will live.
Will post pictures shortly.

Congrats and good luck!

Thanks Ron. I'm hopeful.

Beautiful, Jeff!
Thanks. Not sure I agree YET. They already look a lot better than when the pictures where taken a couple hours ago. They should be real nice once settled in though. Especially the largest of the 3.

Nice fish, i gotta ask whats the reasoning for the bare-bottom tank. Just wondering if that is just a transition type tank, or actual set up.

Still alive!!! Little more active. They actually ate too! Coloring is getting better. I'm hopefully optimistic at this point.

Ummm... ??? ??? What you see is what you get. LOL.
Long term plan is to get a monster tank for rays and put them in it, but for now that is their home.

Alright, Jeff has been waiting for me to post this :P.
I went to the airport to pick up the order and one of the boxes happened to be damaged and soaking wet on the bottom. Needless to say, I opened that one while still at the cargo depot and of course it was the box with Jeff's discus >:(.
Most of the water was out of the bags containing the discus and I was ready to right them off but they were still breathing so....I dumped what water was left in the bags into my large Playmate lunch cooler (which I luckily had in the car), as well as two additional small bags containing the L-200's for extra water. It still wasn't enough water though so I drove to a nearby store and asked if I could get some water. After getting the temp of the fresh water warm enough I proceeded to fill the cooler with enough water to get them home but I had little hope of them surviving...but they definitely wouldn't have made it if I did nothing.
Jeff called me while I was driving home and I told him to not bother coming over as I didn't expect the fish to even be alive by the time I got home.
Well, Jeff said he would come by anyway at least to see his quarry in person even if they were "Axelrod specimens". When he got there the fish were still breathing so I quickly bagged them and Jeff rushed them home and dumped them into their tank. We talked several times that day and of course the threads here have also shown their progress.
I believe what saved them was that they were heavily sedated for the shipping to reduce stress, thus their metabolism was very low and they didn't breath too heavily on what little water remained. I also felt that the short time they were in the chlorinated water would not be a factor.
So I guess the moral of the story is, Jeff wanted his discus so bad and waited so long with many disappointing results, that he used his "Super Powers" to will them to live.
GREAT JOB JEFF!!!
and be sure to keep us updated.
