Title: Pseudo. Elongatus Chewere
Post by: Hobbiest on April 21, 2015, 06:47:51 PM
I purchased 5 Chewere at the auction. While trying to nurse another fish back to health I over fed the Chewere something other that Spirulina and killed 3. I have two left (only feeding Spirulina). They are about an inch one is growing faster. Neither one has the multiple egg spot array on the anal fin. Both have one spot only. Males have the multiple egg spot configuration correct? I probably have two females right?

I think it is perhaps to early to tell if they are male or female just yet. Closer to 2" it would probably become a bit more obvious.

FWIW, from the fish I've seen, female chewere have 0-2 egg spots and males have 1-4.

Here's an example of a male with a single spot: http://www.ohiexchange.com/armke/images/ps_elongatus_chewere.JPG
