Title: Mbu Puffers
Post by: JeffroM on August 26, 2011, 11:56:24 PM
An Mbu Puffer certainly isn't a cichlid so if I understand this sub-forum heading correctly that would make it a feeder fish.  Correct?

I'm sure my last Jag pair would've made a meal of a smaller Mbu.

Edit- changed latest to last- as I have traded them in, weeks ago.

Seems like he's getting bigger every day.  I can always tell when he's hungry, he'll start swimming toward the clams before they hit the bottom.

I went to my parents home a couple of weeks ago and snagged a few giant pickle jars full of clams from their pond.  I've been sticking them in other tanks so the puffer doesn't make a pig of himself.  I put some in with my oscars, and they apparently figured out that when the clams stick their "tongues" out, they make an easy and tasty snack!  I came downstairs and saw about 10 empty clam shells and figured I should probably move them.  It's funny, because the only other species that figured this out was some Chilotilapia Rhoadesii.
