I'm looking for rocks for 55g tank. Can anyone recommend a good place to get some rocks? I'm in the Rochester area. If anyone is looking to get rid of some rocks, I'm willing to pay for it too.

I always find awesome types of rock or slate for my tanks at the local landscaping store, they have huge metal wire bins full of types of rocks and slate... The one I often use is bushel stop on newburg road in westland, or one on Michigan ave.

Thats not too far. I'll try to stop there over the weekend.

Noble's on 8mile just west of Middlebelt (not Angelo's) has a great selection and great prices...and closer to Rochester than Westland.

Orion Stone Depot (http://orionstone.com/)
This is where I bought all my rocks, at a price of about $0.20 / pound. The image below is a picture of the rocks in my tank, feel free to ask questions if you have any.

They will let you hand pick through what they have so that you can create color combinations and shapes that you like without a problem. Also they are close being located in Auburn Hills, there are additional stone supply places in the area, but these guys were easy to deal with and have a good variety of rocks to choose from.

I usually go to Hollow Trucking in Belleville.
You have to buy a bunch to make the trip worthwhile. But, they usually have lacerock

Soo im guessing you guys down there aren't close enough to any farmers, thats where i have gotten all most all of mine. ;) I suppose it helps that my father-in-law has a farm. But there are rock piles all over up here. Hmmm maybe i will be at the next auction, with a big ass pile of rocks for sale... :P :P
