Pictures and the name please... colorful new worlds.
I say they are few and far between.
-
Honduran Red Point
Rotkeil Severum
Red Terror
Salvini
Apistos
Various Rams
Blue Acara
Geo' redhead tapajos
Yellow Convict
Rainbow cichlids
Discus
-
Instances of line-bred species to improve available coloration should be excluded (Discus, Angels, electric-blue-whatevers, etc).
-
Discus are still cool line breed or not and blue Acara are too. The electric blues are a little to much for me to say I like them.
-
I like them too, but for the purpose of the discussion, they may not be as naturally colorful as the only-in-captivity versions. (FWIW, I like the natural versions better too - trying to not be bias).
-

This Bocourti had more color than he knows what do do with.
-
Couple more of mine--these Devils are show stoppers and the Synspillum has purple, blue, black, grey, green....dude is like a seeming rainbow.

IMO, old world cichlids are easy to keep in any part of the Great Lakes Basin. African great and rift lakes are the same chemical make up as most municipal water sources in the midwest.
