Title: Totally off topic
Post by: Steve on October 27, 2014, 07:15:51 PM
Okay this is way off of fish, but wonder if anyone here can help. My Niece who I love dearly has been wanting a Hedge hog really badly for the past year now. I just got the okay from my sister to go ahead and get her one for Christmas. I know it's a long shot....but does anyone here know anyone that breeds them? I'd like to get one from a trusted source rather than CL or strangers.

Yeah, just a tad too far Jen, but thanks. Kind;a lookin' for maybe a Royal oak, Troy, Clawson, Sterling hgts etc etc local breeder maybe hopefully. Thanks though I appreciate the idea for sure.

Although if I can not find one local, I am not completely out of the idea of going a tad away from local, so if I can't find something close in the next few weeks I may just shoot you a PM.

Steve,
Got friends in Howell area that own "Motorcity Hedgehog" (check them out on Facebook). You can go out and see them. Make sure you tell Matt & Amy that Rob sent you.

I had a couple years back....I hope your niece isn't too young..they're not like hamsters. .they can stick you with their needles. .can't take drafts..are a carnivore for the most part,  love worms and insects. ..need a nest box to sleep in,  a wire cage is best. I would let mine explore the yard (supervised of course) they may seem slow but can dart off.

Good Luck

She's 17 years old so she's old enough. Although it will start looking like a zoo over there soon, they have two dogs, 3 cats, 1 bird, a turtle and fish already lol

Sean from this site is going to get me one through the shop he works at. I told him to wait till about the end of this month/start of next though, that way I don't have a hedgehog running around my house for the next month lol

I'm in Saginaw. Fwiw, if anyone ever needed something from this way, let me know.

I usually make every monthly meeting and randomly come down state in between for other things.

:o He looks prickly!

You have no idea dude! He's like trying to hold a pin cushion :P Certainly wouldn't be my choice for a pet that's for sure.
