So just how fast did you load it up and get out of there before the seller could have regrets on selling all of that for only $25?!

Congrats and post a picture once you've got it setup!

It was kind of awkward. The tank belonged to a Lady who's son died of leukemia the week before, he was 9yrs old..  She was having a really hard time with it, but she just wanted it gone. Apparently the tank was her sons favorite thing. By the time I left she was pretty much a emotional train wreck.  :( I think we are going to make a donation to St. Judes in his name, just because.

Very sad thing, I couldn't imagine losing one of my kids.    That would be a very kind and awesome gesture.

I decided to go "Steam Punk" for this tank.. I carved some gears out of Pink foam and painted the PVC to look like old copper... I'm working on the back wall right now, i will post some more picks tomorrow when I get it finished up.

Hope you let her know the tank and things were worth a lot more.  The donation sounds like a solid idea.  Tank looks super nice, super realistic wish I had an ounce of artistic talent in my body and could do something neat like that.  Interested to see the finished product what's the stocking plans?

The PVC "copper" - damn that looks like copper.

Now, had you gone with real copper, you'd never have a MTS invasion (or any other invertebrate for that matter.  ;)

The paint is Krylon brown and plain old dick blick acrylic to add the accents. Everything is either weighted down or siliconed to pieces of floor tile for extra weight. PVC sinks anyway so It does need much.. most of it is sliconed to the glass too. The background is finished and painted, I should have some more pics tomorrow when the rest of the silicone has had time to set up.

That looks amazing. I usually don't like themed tanks that aren't based in terms of realism (castles and such), but this looks amazing. Well done!

Looks cool.On the ones that are more out in the center of the tank make sure you trim the bottom teeth of the gears flat to give more surface area/contact for the silicone to hold to the bottom of the tank. They will be very buoyant so you'll want to have as much contact patch on them as possible.

Yes, Steve I may have to do that with the gears.. I already siliconed them down to the tiles, I guess we will see... I'm going to run some water thru it for a few days in the garage before I bring it in the house.  This will give me time to test it out... Here is another picture with the back wall complete.

Not sure what I'm going to stock it with.. probably just going to use it as a grow out tank. Nothing to special, I am waiting on some Blue neon Hai Reef fry. I might make it a species only tank with 20-30 of them. Either that or some more tropheus, maybe kasanga or Lufubu when/if I can find some for a reasonable price..
