Title: Discus
Post by: DragonMungo on September 21, 2014, 12:56:49 AM
Hello everyone.  I had a discus and it was doing well in my tank but the other day i noticed 4 white spots on its head.  They looked like pimples or like a worm or something sticking out.  I was concerned so I looked it up and could not find anything like it.  I dosed with some antibiotics.  When I got up the next morning the spots were gone almost but above its eyes had a white area and the back of the gill slits had the same.  It was swimming around and seemed okay.  I had to go to work.  When i got home 13 hours later it was dead.  All the white was gone and where the spots were was a pink/red color.  Any help with this would be wonderful.  None of my other fish seem to have any problem and my parameters were all great.

Thanks

If the red area looked like road rash, I'd guess it was hemorrhagic septicemia.  It's not very easy to cure, and kills pretty quick.

Not sure I took pics so that I could try and find out what it was.  I only had the discus for 3 months and I was nursing it back to health because when I got it it had been abused by another fish and its fins were messed up.  I could finally see that its fins were starting to look better.
