I thought it was a shark, i had one a while back and i took it to hiland tropical and the guy up there said it was a shark... Ive looked on google and the shark and catfish are different. Im not sure if its the same fish or not though.

When I search for "tiger shovelnose catfish" and "tiger shovelnose shark", all I get are tiger shovelnose catfish. Can you post some links to the "shark" version?

What size tank do you have? I had a tiger shovelnose catfish once. It grew from 6" to 24" in a year. Unless I build a pond, I'll never get one again and wouldn't suggest anyone does unless they already own a setup that can accommodate a 48" long fish. Unless you have access to a cheap source of quality food, they are expensive to feed too. If you just like the looks, look into a lima shovelnose instead (and get a few because they are more comfortable in groups).
