Title: Male or female?
Post by: Saulosi77 on September 04, 2014, 08:48:47 AM
Sorry for the bad pictures I took them from my phone.  What are your thoughts on this 3" phenochilus?  Male or female.  It has very dark bars and a blue hue.  But no specks that I can say for sure it's a male.  I know phenos take a while to show color.  Is it still to early to tell?  Thanks for all the help.

Looks female.  The rounded anal fins and lack of blue body at that size.  The specks don't come in at that size but the body should be almost fully blue at that size if it were male and the anal fin would decidedly pointed.

I was thinking female as well, but waiting for someone else to say it first.  :)

The speckles will start to come in after the male is blue, around the 4"-6" range.
