Have male intermedius for sale, around 3.5" head to tail showing nice color. Asking $20, can bring to picnic on Sun.
-
Chuco intermedius?
:P
-
No, Tramitichromis intermedius. Guess I should have been more specific....
-
Ok.. So same fish or different fish.. Internet is confused. Tramitichromis and lethrinops?
-
Same fish
-
Both of the names aren't correct, but that's what it goes by.
-
Used to be in the Lethrinop genus and was reclassified as Tramitichromis from what I have been told.
-
We'll for what it's worth I am interested but won't be at the picnic.. And I live in fenton..
If someone else wants it no problem.. But maybe in the future we can figure something out..
Thanks..

A good summary of the issue with the name.

I too purchased the Otopharynx tetrastigma as Tramitichromis intermedius and bred and distributed them as such except after some research at which point I distributed them as Tramitichromis sp. "intermedius" as that was what was suggested to specify that they weren't the true intermedius. I sold my last breeding pair before people started agreeing that they are Otopharynx tetrastigma, though I do have my last group of fry still growing out and a couple of males in my male tank.

Weird how these topics pop up like this, I have been wondering what type of fish this was and now I know. I have a 6" Otopharynx tetrastigma (that I got from Oyers) that is available that I would sell or trade. $50.00 or trade for a Red Cap Lethrinops or Protomelas sp. "spilonotus tanzania" similar size 5" / 6". The colors are just like the ones included in the links provide by lilscoots.
Sorry Josh - I just realized I probably should have started a new thread..
Here is a similar pic of my fish, but not an actual pic of my fish:

Yeah.. the confusing continues..
So the two females I have look like Lethrinops (and the pic below - head shape anyway) and I believe have three very distinct spots exactly like the faded spots on the side of the fish Maize posted..
The horror.. the horror..

The real lethrinops have a much rounder (less pointy) face than the otopharynx, and the otopharynx have a much rounder face than most peacocks and the Copadichromis species I have....can you post a pic of your females possibly in a new thread?
And yes, it seems we've hijacked your thread Josh.
