Title: Lake Tanganyika catfish?

I've been doing some research on Catfish for my 125 with Julidochromis transcriptus and Cyprichromis coloratus and they look pretty neat.  But before I go to far I wanted to see if folks thought Catfish would get along with the Julies and Cyps? 

If so, are there any that would be the best fit and also one that wouldn't get too big (I'm thinking 4-6"?).  Also, would it make sense to get a few or just one?

Catfish will eat any fry they can.  But If you must get some I'd go with Synodontis petricola.

i also agree about the petricola..but i also think they will prey on other fry....

Quantity would depend on which species you actually get. Some are better in groups, while others are more moody.

The S. petricola is a good choice. Get a small shoal if you go with them (3-6+).

Thanks much!  Sounds like the Synodontis petricola would be the way to go.

Now I guess I have to decide if the Julies and Cyps breed, can I realistically raise the fry?  Since my tank is fairly decorated with rocks and plants, which would probably keep me from catching the fry.  Do folks who get them to breed have sparse tanks?  Do they generally strip the Cyps' fry?

This is a pivotal decision, since I would like to raise the fry, but I'm probably dreaming if I think I can actually do it with my tank.

I have my cyp groups in both multiple species and only species tanks.  Yes I do strip them, I have been told they will raise their own fry, but have yet to see it.
