Title: Best Food
Post by: GVsailor on February 06, 2012, 07:30:58 PM
I have been thinking about trying some new food for my africans and I wanted to see what people thought was the best.  Currently I feed spirulina Flake with supplements of Brine Shrimp, Mysis Shrimp, and Bloodworms.  My fry get Spectrum Grow.  What do you think is the best thing food out there?

Specifically what do you keep? The spectrum of what would be "best" is wide given the variety of species that are "african cichlds".

My fronts get NLS and chopped shrimp (when I find it on sale).

My mbuna get mostly a quality spirulina flake and occasionally NLS (med pellet).

My haps get mostly NLS (large pellet) and occasionally larger spirulina flake and chopped shrimp.

My fry get ~50/50 NLS growth and crumbled spirulina flake.

I love Dainichi. Ive always heard that and spectrum are very similar. Along with that I use a mixture of kens flake food, live baby brine shrimp that i hatch, frozen blood worms and frozen brine shrimp.
If the fish are small I use mostly flake, baby brine, and ground up Dainichi (ground with coffee grinder).

I keep Malawi and Victorian haps and a few species of mbuna.

The Dainichi with frozen blood worms and frozen brine shrimp is what I used for years on the same types of fish. For the dainichi I used a mixture of one of the veggie and one of the color enhancing formulas.

I have been using the Repashy for a little over a week now and seeing great results with new world juvis and fry.  Consistently full bellies for a week straight and no wasted food.   Takes away the need for feeding multiple times a day.

I have a 10% off coupon code I can share if anyone wants to order some from http://tedsfishroom.com/   Just send me a PM.
