I've been having a little bit of trouble trying to sort out these variants. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm trying to find the difference between a true Sciaenochromis Ahli and the ever popular Fryeri. The only thing I have found is the blue is not as pronounced. Does anybody have images of both?
Within this is the difference between electric blue and iceberg blue. Are these color variations within the Fryeri species? Is there anything specific differentiating these variants?
I have some larger fry that are starting to show a pale blue body with an orange dorsal fin. All variations I've seen thus far have a white top, not an orange top. Is this only temporary?

S.ahli & fryeri differ in a bunch of different ways... eye size, spine/ray count, jaw shape, etc..
Ahli is used as a trade name for fryeri due to them being mixed up years ago by importers.
It's rare to see an actual S.ahli in the US.
The iceberg fryeri differs, from the regular fryeri, in it having a more prominent white blaze & colored anal fin.

I've been looking through them but I wasn't able to conclude much. between the differences.
I've attached a picture of mine that were labelled as iceberg blues. I don't see any images of any with this orange/yellow tipped dorsal fin. Is this common?

Here is a pic of my iceberg male. No orange in the dorsal, only anal fin.

Looks like some type of hybrid Ahli....
