I bought a nice eureka peacock and the next day when I came home from work it was dead. Had it in the tank for less than 24 hours. Does it look like it had Hexamita? Should I be concerned about my other fish getting it?

Doesn't look like it to me but I've not had first hand experience. Here's a pic of an oscar with it, and although it's not exclusive to large CA/SA fish, I think it is most common with them vs. Africans. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head_and_lateral_line_erosion
What other fish were in there? Any rearrangement of decor before adding the fish? The existing tankmates killing off the new fish as a territorial response is a more likely cause as a first guess from my perspective.

It was bigger than rest of fish in tank by at least 2 inches. I had at the time, peacocks, mbuna, and a couple small haps. Must have been the disadvantage being bigger creating it to be the target. I added it at night with no light. Thought it would be OK. Was fine in the morning when I left. I never noticed the holes around the mouth area like that before. Maybe I just never paid attention, is that normal?

Doesnt look like hole in the head to me.

As I recall, hole in the head (hexamita/HLLE) tends to erode the already existing sensory pits, so all fish have those pits to varying degrees, but the disease makes them huge cavities instead of the smaller holes.

Does the sensory pits look abnormally large on this one?

I'm sorry, I'm not real familiar with peacocks so I will defer to some of the more experienced African cichlid keepers here on the forums.

Looks like Hemorrhagic Septicemia to me.
