Another species in the same tank? Or in another tank?

I have kept and enjoy the Phenos and Deep Water Haps however I did not mix them. They are pretty easy to tell apart but I wanted to be absolutely certain there was no chance for hybridization. With that said I think the Deep H2Os are a little more agressive, at least my males were than the Phenos. When not actively breeding the H2Os blend in very well with most fish I keep.

Good group you picked to choose from..!

I have a large group of 3 males and 14 females of Placidochromis sp. "Phenochilus Tanzania"    Star Sapphire and love them.  They are great fish and very fun to watch.  I would like to try some  Placidochromis milomo Super VC-10.

To be honest, I am not sure.  The person I got them from originally go them from aquabid and then I have since added more females and a male from another source.

I like the Jalo Reefs, but the phenochilus and electra have always looked good to me as well.

P. electra were some of the wimpiest haps I've ever kept in a mixed tank. I did really like their more subtle coloration though. In the right light they looked amazing.

I've also kept/bred P. phenochilus "Tanzenia". They were really pretty, and stout, but not too aggressive. Unfortunately I had them right before everyone else realized how nice they were and the prices went up. I'd get more, but prices are still high-ish and they take a long time to grow out.

Ragal,

I'd probably do the VC10 out of those two. Probably have to wait a while though befroe finding a WC trio though.

Marty,

Yeah I agree! The Electra is a nice one too. Had one when I was like 15. Hard to beleive that was 21 years ago... YIKES!? lol

Ron,

I may very well take the Tanzania route! I had a some about 6 years ago and they were Nice! But one of Venustus females I sold to Josh was one in trio that Killed them off when they all got larger. Should have seperated them. Didn't have the room at that point though or another tank. Live and learn.

Was thinking about adding a WC trio to my Moba Tank! They seem to be peaceful enough of a Hap to cohabitate well with them.

Dan,

IDK... I'm done with pond looking fish at this point. No Offense or Course! Just looking for something with some pop or Shnazzy looking! ;o)

Pheno's for sure. I also think they would be fine with your Moba group. Color contrast would be really cool too.

they both have blotches, right?  Just the Tansania has white ones as opposed to different shades of blue blotches?

So the Placidochromis Phenochilus do not get any spots?

With me though, it's all about Quality as well.

Yes. The Sapphires have the Blotches but the Nice Quality Females are the typical a nice blue when larger.

Well I picked up some Placidochromis phenochilus in my last batch of fish,  now I am not sure if they are Star Saphire or not, will be interesting to see how they color up.  I have three, one in each of my tanks. 55 / 55 /180...
