I just bought a baby electric blue jack dempsey. What can I add for tank mates?

I had EBJDs for years and I kept mine with the following. And Electric Blue Dempseys aren't NEARLY as aggressive as normal jds. Try to stay away from very aggressive species like Jaguars and Guapote, Jacks, Green Terrors, anything Amphilophus, Convicts, African cichlids
Angelfish
syno catfish
Firemouth
Guppies
platys
Blue Acara
Earth-eaters
Raphael Cats or Pictus
Barbs
I could be forgetting some

What Jenna said, plus because of the much lower aggression make sure it is eating well and not too crowded, as they can be hard to keep when they're small (based on what I've read, not personal experience).

I had a tough time with min it just kind of withered away. From my experience they grow painfully slow no matter what I put in the tank with it would over time out grow it and I'd have to move the ebjd, one day I just couldn't find it any more it seemed like it just never grew, strange. Very neat though. They look really cool when small.

Would it be a good idea to maybe get a few smallllll peaceful fish. When the EBJD gets big enough im sure nature will take its course. This was my girlfriends early valentines day gift. Along with a 20 G setup. ;D
Figured it would be a good way to get her to join in a little more in the hobby so I'm trying to make it nice for her.
